What to know when registering for our AFTC SPORTS CAMP REGISTER EARLY We only have space for 45 kids each week. Kids are grouped according to age to ensure a fun, and engaging learning experience for all campers.
Tennis is our main focus. Your child will improve their tennis skills. Our other sport activities are designed to develop different skills, and using the surrounding nature opportunities to build confidence and awareness.
We are proud to offer kids 4 - 15 years, a variety of sports and adventure activities at our summer camps. Our camps are designed to give campers an opportunity to build physical literacy skills through different sports and activities. No matter what sport your child plays, our camps will help improve personal space awareness, their overall movement, coordination, reception and projection skills, through different activities.
ACTIVITY DETAIL Tennis Our certified Tennis Canada coaches will group kids according to age and skill level where modified tennis equipment is used to learn to play tennis quickly. Red balls and mini courts are used for 6-8 year old, 9-11 year old use orange balls on a ¾ court and 12 and above use green / regular on the full court. Pickleball NEW! We are excited to introduce all campers to Pickleball. Throughout the pickle sessions kids will learn the rules, how to score and to stay out of the "kitchen". Soccer Outdoors on the turf or indoors in the event of inclement weather kids will learn footwork, ball handling skills, dribbling and tactics through appropriate drills and games. Scrimmages will allow kids to develop strategies and the understanding of teamwork. Basketball This portion of the camp will be indoors. Through skill development and drills kids will learn how to pass, dribble and shoot. Lacrosse NEW! Capital Area Lacrosse Association will be providing weekly sessions teaching all campers the basic fundamentals, rules, and playing Lacrosse games. All equipment will be provided. Sport 3NEW! (Partners for Youth) Only in weeks 6,7 and 8. Sport3 is an internationally used innovative model, using games/activities/movement as a catalyst to facilitate positive conversations while creating psychological safety to discuss themes such as inequality, respect, technology, belonging, and diversity. Sport3 is designed to use a unique combination of experiential education strategies such as group work, role-play, games, and other hands-on activities intended to engage youth, build trust and belonging, and explore topics that youth face to help mold them into young leaders. Adventure We are fortunate to have easy safe access to the woodlot. AFTC staff will assess what adventure activities they will do based on the general age of the campers and weather conditions. Activities will be designed around survival techniques, scavenger hunts and check point races.
